Da Nang ‘s top 10 dishes

Eat like a local!
“Da Nang’s top 10 dishes”is a ranking made by DaNang Cuisine, with the aim to give tourists a reference of the best and most popular street food of Da Nang city.

My criteria in selecting the dishes is to include Danang’s specialties – the very basic dishes that you should know about Danang cuisine. More than just tastiness, these foods give definition to the city’s history and culture. So embrace, and eat them with your heart.

I will also recommend one or two stalls for each dish. Some of them are obvious winners, some are my personal favorites, while a few are chosen for their convenient locations.

1. Mi Quang

Mi Quang brings out the feeling of genuineness and simplicity, just like the people in central Vietnam
Ingredients: Pork, shrimp, egg, greens, rice noodle, roasted peanuts, rice cracker (Broth is added to barely soak the noodles).

2. Seafood
Where: Thanh Hien – My Khe beach (next to Tourane hotel).

3. Banh xeo
Ingredients: Rice flour, turmeric powder, pork, shrimp, egg, been sprouts, greens, rice paper, “tuonq” sauce
Where: Ba Duong – K280/23 Hoang Dieu.
When: Evening

4. Bun mam
Bun nam is the simplest yet most addictive noodle salad of DaNang.

Ingredients: Boiled/roasted pork, anchovy fish sauce, vermicelli, roasted peanuts, young jackfruit, cucumber, greens.

5. Banh beo, banh nam, banh bot loc
Banh bot loc: Corn starch, shrimp with strong fish sauce.
Banh beo: Rice flour, pork, shrimp, roasted peanuts with light fish sauce.
Banh nam: Rice flour, pork, shrimp, Jew’s ear with light fish sauce.

6. Bun bo
Bun bo in the central is as popular as Pho in the north
Ingredients: Beef, rice vermicelli, lemongrass, spring onion.
Alternatives: rare steak, tendon, meatballs, pork leg …

When: 2-6PM

7. Banh trang cuon thit heo (Pork rice paper roll)
Ingredients: Boil/roasted pork, greens, rice paper, rice cake, rice cracker, anchovy fish sauce.

8. Bun thit nuong
Ingredients: Grilled pork, special “tuong” sauce, vermicelli, roasted peanuts, cucumber, greens.

9. Banh canh
Ingredients: Rice flour/wheat flour/rice starch noodles, fish cake, meat on the bone and/or shrimp.
